Birdville Hawks First Down Club August 24, 2004 Minutes
The August meeting was called to order by Bill Hurlburt, acting president.
At the last booster meeting Mark Atwood president and Sandy Atwood secretary resigned their positions. During the last week there has been two more resignation to the board Liz Ferrari 2nd VP and Tweresa Crawford, Membership Director. Bill Hurlburt was nominated to the office of President, Tanya Neill was nominated as Secretary, Amy Logan volunteered for the 2nd VP, and Clay Buckelew volunteered to become the Membership Director. A vote was taken; all were in favor with no opposition. With Bill moving to President, an opening was left for the 1st VP position, Lance Ammon volunteered, all were in favor, with no opposition.
Every Tuesday in the month of September a short meeting along with the showing of a game tape will be held in the cafeteria at 7:00 pm. There will be a coach on hand to talk about the game. The game tapes will not be only the Varsity, but will also be the Freshmen and JV. The team will not be known until the night of the showing.
The Varsity & JV Banquet will be held January 17, 2005, at the complex. The board is looking into a different caterer this year. A banquet committee will be formed to handle all the details.
Diana gave the treasure report. All were in favor to accept, no opposition.
The program is complete and will be delivered before the first game. An insert will be printed and placed in the program for each game.
It was noted the JV teams have merged this year. For the most current information go to the BISD web site and link to the football screens.
A discussion was held about the feeding of the football players. The boosters have been asked by Coach Skinner to have food for the Varsity team before and after the games. Every team member needs to pay the $30 fee. This is a UIL regulation, the boosters are not allowed to feed them for free, a fee must be paid. If a player moves up or down from Varsity during the season, the fee will be prorated. If a player’s family is unable to pay the $30, they need to contact a board member. The JV and Freshmen teams will receive sandwich, chips, a drink and dessert from the booster before or after their game. There is a great need of support from the parents to make the sandwiches.
After a call for volunteers to be on different committees the meeting was dismissed.
